The 57th Annual Sierra Madre Art Fair, sponsored by the Friends of the Sierra Madre Library, will be held in Memorial Park, 222 West Sierra Madre Blvd., on Saturday, May 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sixty-five (65) artists, including 10 newly juried, will display and sell their works of art. Mediums include oil paintings, jewelry, watercolors, glass, wood, metal, wearable art, photography, pottery, ceramics, mixed media, sculpture and weaving. The Art Fair will be the perfect place to buy Mom that wonderful Mother’s Day gift or to buy upcoming graduation and wedding gifts, as well as to purchase pieces for your own enjoyment.
The Featured Artist this year is Warren Yip. His Maple and Balau wood piece, titled ‘Giraffe,’ will appear on all posters, post cards, flyers, and other promotional materials.
Live Music will be featured throughout the weekend in the band shell and on the southeast lawn. In the Band Shell on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. — Evan Marshall, mandolin virtuoso; and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. — McMains, American pop and Celtic Soul. On Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. — Steve Trovato and Tim Kobza, jazz, country, rock guitar duo; and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. — Rick Shea, country style American music.
On the Southeast Lawn on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. — Tom Corbett and Bill Knopf, mandolin and banjo duo. On Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon — Banna Beag Mall — Irish/Celtic; and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. — Jean Sudbury — charming eclectic mix of music and instruments.
Food vendors will offer a variety of food and drinks. Scheduled to participate are Taquito Lover, Kealy’s Poppin’ Kettle Corn and Kona Ice.
The Friends of the Library will have a booth selling their popular sweet ‘quick’ breads and baked goods and the Sierra Madre Historical Preservation Society will be selling their famous lemonade made from rangpur limes.
For the children, instructors from the Creative Arts Group have planned a special craft activity – learn how to make pinwheels!
Again, this year we will feature a Silent Auction. To date, 35 artists have donated lovely, one-of-a-kind pieces for the auction, which means you’ll have an opportunity to bid on some really beautiful artwork and also support the Library.
