Wine and Cuisine Tasting

50th ANNUAL WINE AND CUISINE TASTING BENEFIT – POSTPONED

The Friends of the Sierra Madre Library regret to announce the postponement of the 50th Annual Friends of Sierra Madre Library Wine and Cuisine Tasting Benefit scheduled for September 23. All tickets purchased on Eventbrite.com have been refunded. Those who purchased tickets at the library will be contacted by a committee member to arrange for return or voiding of payments.

The Planning Committee felt encouraged that the pandemic had reached a point where an in-person event could be planned! However, in the wake of the pandemic, we learned that labor shortages, economic instability and caution made execution of the event impossible. With this said, the Friends Board of Directors voted to postpone the benefit.

We ask readers to support the Sierra Madre Library by joining the Friends of the Sierra Madre Library or becoming a Partner of the library. We also encourage each of you to support our local restaurants and other venues as the recovery continues.

Julie Bencosme, 2022-2023 President of Friends of Sierra Madre Library, extends special thanks to Susan Henderson at Mt Views News; Pete Siberell at Santa Anita Racetrack; all the restaurants that supported the wine tasting, including Nano’s Café, Poppy Cake, Raffi’s, Matt Denny’s, and Lucky Baldwin; those businesses that contributed to the Silent Auction were Baldwin Jewelers, The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, Bottle Shop, Amperage Electric, Bill Traxler Pool Service, The Buccaneer, Creative Arts Group, Four Seasons Tea Room, Islands Fine Burgers, Lucky Baldwin’s, Nano’s Café, Only Place in Town Restaurant, and Sierra Madre Playhouse. Special thanks are also extended to Arcadia Party Rentals, Sir Speedy of Monrovia, and B & H Signs for their continued support of our events. Margaret Quigley and The Buccaneer both offered to serve as sponsors for the wine tasting, which was appreciated. And last but not least special thanks to the Friends of Sierra Madre Library Board of Directors for making this tough decision.

Stay on the lookout for this well-loved event’s return in the future!
